With Sleepy repaired, Fitz had a new assignment. Apparently somewhere up the chain of command, someone wanted something that would help subdue unruly mutants so they could be dealt with. Fitz wasn't 100% sure what 'dealt with' was supposed to mean, but he was pretty positive that it wasn't anything overly pleasant. With Simmons occupied elsewhere, he had the lab to himself for a while, which was unusual and awkward. He liked the sound of her doing things.

Was that weird? Aye, it probably was. He wrinkled his nose a bit as he worked on putting together the latest piece of genius mastery. It was only one half of a whole, and the other half he needed Jemma for. Hopefully he could get her long enough to at the very least, get her input on how to properly make his little doo-dad do it's thing.

Really, it just looked like he was putting together a very flashy laser pistol of some kind. It was a touch larger than your average hand gun, and looked a bit flashy too, but that was mostly due to the plasma charge that actually powered the thing. He was very proud of that one. So very proud. The tech behind that was something he found buried in SHIELD files from... well, it was old. Very old.

Sleepy and Sneezy were doing calibration flights around the lab while he worked, running other tests on the rest of the DWARFs. Anyone walking in would likely need to dodge one or both.

Normally Fitz didn't go downstairs. That wasn't his domain. That belonged to the other kind of engineers. Not him. He had a nice kushy lab on the floor above, with nice kushy access to nice kushy things. Nice and kushy. No need to go after the big, ugly things. He worked with small Tech, but he did want to see what was going on with the so called Life Model research. He was just so curious about it.

And he also needed a specific experimental solinoid for one of the DWARFS. Somehow with the last attempt at field testing, Sleepy blew the balance solinoid, and SHIELD inventory records said the downstairs labs had a few. Yeah, he needed those.

Sleepy cradled in one hand, the other swiped himself into access to the lower levels, "Eh... Hello?" He called down the hall.

✖ Leopold Fitz. Otherwise known as Leo, or preferably Fitz if given a choice. Fitz works for SHIELD, and has for a while now. His pre SHIELD days were filled with tinkering in his parents basement, taking anything electrical apart, and building something new, and sometimes useful out of something old and useless. He won every Science Fair he ever participated in, and is extremely proud of that fact even today.

Originally born and raised in Scotland, Fitz came to the US on a scholarship for college, which later turned out to be some kind of SHIELD fund for exceptionally bright youths. He was recruited fresh out of his junior year, and brought into various SHIELD programs to get him started on the right track to become one of SHIELD's brightest.

It was there that Fitz met Jemma. One wouldn't call it love at first sight, but Fitz had a gut feeling that this girl was smart, and he wanted, needed to be friends with her. Intellectual equals as they were, he discovered early on that Jemma Simmons was truly the brains of the operation. He found he had a habit of defaulting to whatever she insisted to be the right course of action. No, it wasn't because she was pretty, though that certainly helped. It was because she was smarter than him, and while he'd never openly admit it... he wanted to achieve greatness. He could do that with Simmons.

Their friendship eventually led to a somewhat legendary partnership. The name Fitzsimmons was well known at the academy. Really, the only reason Fitz's name was first, was because Simmonsfitz sounded ridiculous.

Jump forward to present time.

Fitz has been around, ish. After a nasty bout with the flu, he's back on his feet and ready to get back to the grind with Simmons and put their minds together on whatever their next big task is. He heard down the grapevine that it has something to do with mutations and what sorts they are. Leo doesn't get too involved in those politics just yet, as he hasn't really had a reason to. He's got nothing against Mutants or Super Humans. He just doesn't know any.

He's also dying to get down to the LMD lab and pick the brain of the techs down there, to see just what makes the LMD's tick. He'd love some kind of artificial intelligence for the D.W.A.R.F.S.

✖ Jamie is a unique individual. Of course, he's a decently good looking male, able to pass as perfectly human on a daily basis, but that's only because he's been coping with his mutation since birth. His birth was a normal one at that, until the good doctor did the ever classic slap upon the rump to get his newborn lungs working in full force.

He had one infant boy in hand when he spanked the babe, and the instant his hand made contact with that bare baby bottom, he was olding two newborns, one identical to the other. Of course, as with most strange phenomena, the doctor was startled, and so were Jamie's parents. It didn't matter to his parents that he was a mutant. In fact, they embraced the unique ability of their son and worked to help him understand it all. His mother, Joan, was your typical stay at home mother, tending to every need of Jamie, and on occasion, his accidental clones. Her husband, Daniel Madrox, resigned from his position at the Los Alamos Nuclear Research Center to move his family to an isolated farm in Kansas, at the suggestion of a close friend. It was on this farm that Daniel was able to not only help Jamie retain some semblance of normalcy with his life, but tend to the difficulties of his mutation.

✖ You see, Jamie had the unique ability of Kinetic absorption, but there was a catch. Even the slightest jostle to Jamie, a mere accidental bump into a stationary object, would in turn, cause a Duplicate. A snap of his fingers would draw out a single Dupe, while a clap a few, a fall, several. As a child it was difficult to get a hold on this 'problem'. To counteract this, his father Daniel, developed a suit to help disperse the kinetic energy around Jamie. It inhibited his mutation, and allowed him to function rather normally, aside from the fact the boy had to wear this unusual black body suit under his clothing.

Through Trial and error, Jamie learned the perks to his Kinetic Duplication. Whatever a dupe learned, when he reabsorbed them, as he always managed to do, he learned whatever that dupe had learned. He also learned the hard way that when one Dupe was injured, he could feel it, and depending on the severity of the injury, he might even gain the injury when he reabsorbed his dupe. It was some kind of empathetic link, that extended only to his duplicates. Of course, absorbing physically whole dupes, while he himself is injured, speeds up the healing. It works in reverse as well. If he were injured and duped himself, his dupes would come into existence with that same injury. Not entirely convenient, but useful in a bind.

✖ Jamie and his family lived on the farm until he was fifteen years old. Jamie and his Dupes would do much of the more physical labor around the farm, and in his spare time, Jamie would keep at least one Dupe in the house with his mother, tending to his home schooling. It might have been a way of cheating, but his parents were appreciative of the extra hard work he put forth. All around, he was a pretty decent kid growing up.

All good things must come to an end though, and as good as Jamie's life was with his parents, mother nature exacted it's seasonal toll on the farm in the form of a terrible tornado that decimated the barn and half of the farm house, killing Jamie's parents, but leaving the boy with only minor injuries.

Jamie stayed on the farm for a few more years, though his routines changed ever so slightly. He didn't keep all his dupes around the farm. Some he sent off, to do things, to learn things, and to get him to a point where he could leave. With no family ties obligating him to the farm any longer, Jamie decided New York was where he wanted to be. His father had friends there, and he'd heard that's where a great deal of mutant activity was happening. There weren't many mutants in Kansas, you see. Even fewer that could put up with his smarmy charm and penchant for humor. If anything, Jamie was rather proud of his sense of humor. He could be as serious as the next fellow one moment, cracking bad jokes the next.

By eighteen, Jamie was headed to the Big Apple and the rest of the state, Duping and sending them out to learn more. He had a thirst for knowledge, developed after his parents death. In New York it was easy. One Jamie attended College, another enrolled in a few martial art's classes. Jamie wanted to keep himself busy, so now he's looking into getting involved in some mutant rights activities, though there aren't many to be had just yet. Plenty against mutants, but not so much for them.

✖ He's just a single guy, out to make a name for himself, and maybe find someone to share his life with, though the latter is less likely to happen. He's not the sort to commit, at least, not right away, and often finds himself hanging the office, working on cases. You see, over the years, Jamie managed to put together his own Private Investigation Firm that he calls X-Factor Investigations. It's a solo gig at the moment, but he's looking to expand. He doesn't recall the SHRA, or his involvement in it previously. Back then, he'd registered, and did his due diligence in helping find particular mutants, though always at a fee, and he always took just long enough that they managed to get away.

He hadn't be for the act, but he didn't do anything openly against it. His job was too important then.
